Slot Technician

JOB SUMMARY

 

Under direction of the Operations Manager, Slot Repair Manager, or the Shift Supervisor, the Slot Technician performs routine repair, maintenance and modifications of Gaming Devices.  The Slot Technician repairs damaged or malfunctioning devices and keeps device down time to a minimum. 

The Slot Technician, as with all members of the Tamarack Junction Casino Team, is expected to conduct himself/herself in a manner, which demonstrates initiative, professionalism, personal awareness, integrity, and exercises confidentiality in the appropriate areas of his/her performance. 

TECHNICAL/PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE (Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience)

    • Assists with installation, removal, and inspects electronic gaming devices, hardware, equipment and associated systems as required for efficient, continuous conduct of business operations.
    • Identifies all malfunctions, troubleshoots, and performs necessary repairs of electronic gaming devices and equipment as required.
    • Adjusts electronic and electro-mechanical equipment to ensure maximum efficiency. Performs necessary preventive maintenance and hardware/software upgrades of electronic gaming devices as required.
    • Direct guest contact relating to service calls on malfunctioning machines, often dealing with tense difficult guest situations. Repairs should be made in a timely manner, as well as delivering excellent guest service under difficult situations.
    • Assists in the installation, removal, conversion, and relocation of Gaming devices and stands.
    • Assists in ensuring device integrity when jackpots or device malfunctions occur.
    • Handles gaming device inventory control ensuring gaming device parts are properly returned and documented.
      • Assists with player tracking hardware and software installations and repairs.
    • Promotes positive guest relations by projecting a courteous, helpful attitude and assisting guests as appropriate.
    • Ensures compliance with company policy, Gaming Control Board Regulations, Title 26 Currency Regulations.
    • Demonstrates a working knowledge of all the amenities available at the Tamarack.  Provides information to guests regarding the facility.  Provides directions to areas of the casino as needed.
    • As needed, assists with keeping slot area clean and orderly.  Picks up debris and removes used glasses.
    • Regularly provides information to management staff regarding safety concerns and the general appearance of the casino to ensure a quality and safe environment for guests.
    • Performs other duties as assigned. 

TECHNICAL/PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE (Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience)

  • Ability to understand basic electronic theory and basic schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Ability to navigate through gaming device menus to find audit, last game recall, and event logs.
  • Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, test equipment, and instruments as applicable.
  • Experience with performing installations and conversions on the following Gaming Device platforms preferred: CPU 3, GEN 7 and 8, AVP 3.0 and 4.0, KP3 and KP3+, SBX.
  • Effective oral communication skills. 
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service in a fast paced environment.
  • Registration as a gaming employee with the Gaming Control Board required.
  • Three to Five years’ experience in the installation, removal, maintenance, and repair of gaming devices and associated equipment required.  Previous casino experience preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.  Two years of electronic technical training preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and follow verbal and written directions.  Strong attention to detail.

  Must be 21.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The Slot Technician works on-site at the casino and interfaces with external/internal guests, team members, and vendors on a regular basis. The position work schedule varies and may include Saturday/Sunday, evening and on-call work depending on the needs of the operation.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is required to walk and stand for long periods of time; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop, kneel crouch or crawl; talk, and hear.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 65 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
